My idea of Fringe Notes is to investigate the Urban-Rural Fringe. I am not sure what it is. A simple explanation for me is the way I like vacant lots in urban settings—the fields and edges. ‘Fringe Notes’ starts there as an idea. Maybe it is a place for the fringe of my experience—not sure. This video is of a favorite place in my region. On the day I visited I expected to hear swallows in the barn, but they were gone.

Artists portray the conflict of having emotions.
Painting is a responsive act and an inventive act. To paint, one must see, interpret, and invent.
Take time to re-charge as an artist, experience life, see, listen, and reflect.
Live with your work, it takes time to form a relationship—let the art speak back to you.
Sometimes one must go forward with bold strokes, and, sometimes one must go forward with ordered strokes. Art involves both sides of passion.
However achieved, painting is a relationship of parts.
To understand a subject, it is important to stay with it and produce studies.
If it is a busy day, spend some time with your painting later, perhaps at night. Small moves could be made or quiet observation.
Paint from your center.
The nuances of individuality, within the sphere of conformity, ask for your attention.
Art does not forsake you, it is ready when you are.
